Reverend Earl T. Howerton Jr.
Biography
Reverend Earl T. Howerton Jr. was born in Washington D.C. in August of 1974. After living in Halifax, Virginia for several years, he then moved to Long Island New York. Upon completion of high school, he attended Virginia State University where he obtained a B.S. Degree in Business Management in 1997. During this time, he began attending the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA where he acknowledged his call to ministry. He was licensed to preach the gospel in September of 2001.
Rev. Howerton is an advocate for education, and believes in learning and living the principles of God’s word. He has served as Sunday School Superintendent; Director of the Young Adults/College Ministry and President of the Hawkins-Pitt Scholarship Committee. He has studied in the School of the Prophets under the teaching of Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin. In 2005, he received a Masters degree from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington D.C.
Currently, Rev. Howerton is the pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove Virginia. He serves on the Board of Directors for Olivet Christian Academy in Petersburg, Virginia. He has also served as an instructor at The Virginia University of Lynchburg, teaching courses in religious studies.
Rev. Howerton is deeply committed to serving and ministering to the needs of all people. He is involved in several organizations that are designed to help those who are in need, including the NAACP and the Biblical Institute for Social Change. He aids and assists the Southside Outreach Group, Inc. who provides housing for low- income families.
Rev. Howerton has facilitated ministerial workshops, leadership training sessions and has conducted an international revival in Stockholm, Sweden. As a yielded vessel unto the Lord, God has placed a powerful anointing upon the life of this Man of God. His ministry includes a dualistic approach of teaching and preaching. With a ministry of encouragement, deliverance, healing and restoration, God has allowed the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ to shine in his heart.
He affectionately loves the Lord as he serves with his wonderful wife Shaunda Howerton. His prayer is that the body of Christ would remain steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
